On March 21, 2019, Wang Zhigang, chairman of Shenzhen Youwei Group, was invited to participate in the inaugural meeting of the first management committee of Shenzhen Grubbs Research Institute held by Shenzhen Southern University of Science and Technology, and was appointed by the president of Southern University of Science and Technology Teng Jinguang for research Member of the Management Committee of the Institute.

The Grubbs Research Institute is the first research institution named after the Nobel Prize winner in Mainland China. It was officially unveiled on October 12, 2016. Professor Robert Grubbs served as the dean of the research institute. Relying on the establishment of new medicine research center, new materials research center, clean energy and chemical process research center.
